Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for reviewing and approving the following applications. Permits can be issued when all required information has been provided that complies with the adopted regulations.
Fence Permits. Prior to intsallation of any fence, a permit must be issued.
Keeping of Domestic Chickens. A permit that is reviewed and approved annually is required to keep domestic chickens on your property.
Land Division, Boundary Adjustment or Land Combinations. The changing of lot lines must be reviewed and approved by the City prior to recording the document with Berrien County.
Pre-Submittal Meetings. Depending on the complexity of a project, a pre-submittal meeting maybe necessary. It allows the developer the opportunity to ask questions of city staff and for city staff to provide comments.
Sidewalk Cafe Permit. An annual permit that can be issued to food service and beverage businesses within the D Downtown District to provide outdoor food and beverage service between April and October.
