Design Review Committee
Created in 2005, the Downtown Design Review Committee is responsible for reviewing alterations to the exterior of buildings located in the D Downtown District. Goals of the Design Guidelines include preserve and protect existing historical structures; protect and enhance historic areas to attract residents and visitors; and serve as a support and stimulus to business and civic pride.
Both existing building and proposed new construction are to follow the adopted Design Standards that are based on the City of Buchanan Downtown Development Plan from 1992.
Exterior alterations range from signage, lighting, new windows, or doors to new construction.

The Planning and Community Development Director staffs this Committee and can administratively approve requests under specific circumstances.
