NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that the Buchanan City Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Buchanan City Hall, 302 N. Redbud Trail, Buchanan, Michigan 49107.

The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment regarding a proposed ordinance 2026.09/455, Workforce Housing Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) Ordinance. The proposed ordinance would establish a process through which qualifying workforce housing developments or rehabilitation projects may receive an exemption from ad valorem property taxes and instead pay an annual service charge in lieu of those taxes.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection at Buchanan City Hall during regular business hours.

Members of the public may appear at the hearing and provide comments regarding the proposed ordinance. Written comments may also be submitted to the City Clerk before the public hearing.

The City of Buchanan will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities upon reasonable advance notice. Please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 269-695-3844 for assistance.
