Mayor's Welcome

Mayor, Sean Denison

Honoring our past and shaping our future.

On behalf of all of our citizens, Welcome to Buchanan, Michigan.

Our community is steeped in history. From the manufacturing plants of Clark Machinery to the electronic innovations of Electro Voice, Buchanan has always been a home for doers. Those rare individuals, undaunted by a challenge and willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. Our City commission, administration and staff strive to honor our past, while working diligently to shape our future.

Today, Buchanan is experiencing a rejuvenation of sorts. A rebirth as a place to explore, innovate and build. Surrounded by world class universities such as Northwestern and Notre Dame as well as several smaller local colleges and universities; our community is filled with intelligent, hardworking young people looking to make their place in the world.

Against the backdrop of local wineries, farms and orchards, our community shines as a place to shop, work and live. Quality of life is not just a catch phrase, but an integral part of what we focus on improving each and every day. From our summertime Thrill on The Hill, to the live performances at our Tin Shop Theatre, our Summer Concert series, or in one of our many downtown shops, Buchanan is filled with places to explore the arts, music and creativity.

Our recent designation as the “Nicest Place in America” by the Readers Digest is due in no small part to our large number of community volunteers and their respective organizations who continue to make our community a great place to call home. They also remind us through their actions, that being a good neighbor builds a stronger community and that we all must do our part to create the kind of place we want to call home.

We invite you to stop in, grab a bite and come see why we say, “Life is Better Here”.
