NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN
CITY COMMISSION

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City of Buchanan City Commission will hold a Public Hearing on a proposed ordinance #2026.07/451 to amend Chapter 78, Solid Waste, of the City of Buchanan Code of Ordinances on Monday, June 8th, 2026, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Buchanan City Hall, 302 N. Redbud Trail, Buchanan, Michigan 49107.

The proposed ordinance includes amendments to Chapter 78, Solid Waste, to update and clarify the City’s brush collection regulations. The proposed amendments include provisions regarding brush size allowances, maximum brush pile size and stacking requirements, allowable placement of brush, days and months of brush pick-up, time of placement, prohibited items, prohibited placement, property owner clean-up responsibilities, and referral of non-compliant piles to code enforcement. The amendments are intended to provide a clear set of regulations for the City’s brush pick-up program, which is intended for trimming of on-site trees and is not intended for tree removal by professional services.

At the meeting, all interested persons will have the opportunity to be heard. Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection at Buchanan City Hall, 302 N. Redbud Trail, Buchanan, Michigan 49107, during regular business hours.
