NOTICE OF ADOPTION

CITY OF BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN

CITY COMMISSION

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that, following a public hearing held on Monday, May 11, 2026, the City of Buchanan City Commission approved and adopted Ordinance No. 2026.05/449, Vacant and Underutilized Building Ordinance.

The Ordinance regulates, rehabilitates, and promotes the active use of vacant and underutilized buildings; discourages nonconforming storage uses outside storage zones; establishes definitions, registration requirements, local responsible agent designation, inspection, maintenance, activation standards, fees, enforcement, hardship relief, and appeals; and protects public health, safety, and welfare.

Ordinance No. 2026.05/449 shall become effective on May 29, 2026.

Copies of the adopted Ordinance are available for public inspection at Buchanan City Hall, 302 N. Redbud Trail, Buchanan, Michigan 49107, during regular business hours.
