NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE 2025.09/443
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City Commission of the City of Buchanan, County of Berrien, State of Michigan, at a regular meeting held on the 22nd day of September, 2025, adopted Ordinance 2025.09/443, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 14, BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS, ARTICLE IX, DWELLING UNIT REGISTRATION – GENERALLY, TO ADD REGULATIONS FOR SHORT-TERM RENTALS
The Ordinance establishes regulations for short-term rental units within the City, including:
- Permit and inspection requirements for all STR units;
- Limitation of STRs to designated zoning districts, with allowances for certain pre-existing units;
- Responsibilities of owners, agents, and occupants regarding availability, safety, noise, refuse, and parking;
- Occupancy limits;
- Enforcement provisions, including fines, permit revocation, and penalties for unauthorized rentals.
A complete copy of Ordinance 2025.09/443 is available for public inspection at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 302 N. Redbud Trail, Buchanan, Michigan, during regular business hours and on the City’s official website at www.cityofbuchanan.com.
This Ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after its adoption and publication in accordance with the City Charter.
