BUCHANAN POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE
The Buchanan Police Department would like to provide information to our public regarding a Policy change in Peddler’s and Solicitor’s permits.  To better service our city residents and business owners, Peddler’s and Solicitor’s will now be required to be identified by ID badges while making their contacts.  These ID badges will have the individual’s name, a signature from the Buchanan Police Department and an expiration date on them.  The badge holder will be held by a “City of Buchanan” maroon and white lanyard.  It will also be required that a picture ID be on the reverse side of the badge holder.  There will be a $10 deposit that will be returned back upon their compliance and return of City property.
Again, this policy was adopted to better serve our citizens and business owners.  This change was to provide a better sense of security to our citizens.  The City of Buchanan has always had a screening process for those wishing to solicit or make contacts with our citizens.   The Buchanan Police Department would still encourage those of you who have concerns to call right away.
Thank you,
Sergeant JT Adkerson
Buchanan Police Department
